Dr. Ali Yahya Abdullah Al-Assad

President of Yemen and Gulf Center for Studies

Assistant Professor of Political Science at Sana’a University and President of the Yemen and Gulf Centre for Studies. His research focuses on comparative political systems, pathways out of state fragility, state-building in conflict-affected contexts, political economy, public policy, good governance, and anti-corruption, with particular emphasis on producing rigorous knowledge and developing practical policy alternatives to support decision-makers in Yemen and the Gulf region.

His professional and research experience includes leading and managing multidisciplinary projects and research teams; preparing strategic studies and policy papers for research centres and governmental and international institutions; serving as a researcher and certified trainer in the fields of integrity, anti-corruption, and governance; as well as extensive academic experience in university teaching and research supervision at Sana’a University. He has also actively participated in numerous academic conferences and institutional events.

He holds a PhD with distinction in Political Science, specialising in Comparative Political Systems, from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, awarded in 2026. He also holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Assiut University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Sana’a University.
