As part of the center’s strategic direction to enhance institutional and research performance and to further develop its role in addressing issues concerning Yemen and its regional environment, the Board of Directors of the Yemen and Gulf Center for Studies has issued a decision appointing Dr. Ali Yahya Abdullah Al-Assad as President of the Center.
This appointment comes within the context of a new phase of institutional and research development that the center seeks to implement in the coming period, aiming to strengthen its capacity to produce scientific studies and analyses, and to expand partnerships and cooperation with academic and research institutions at both the local and regional levels.
The decision also comes as a succession to Mr. Walid Al-Abarah, who led the center during its foundational phase and made significant contributions to building its structures and launching its research programs and activities. On this occasion, the Board of Directors and all members of the center extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Walid Al-Abarah for his dedicated efforts, which helped establish the center’s presence and advance its mission.
Dr. Ali Yahya Abdullah Al-Assad is considered one of the founding members of the Yemen and Gulf Center for Studies, and is an academic and researcher specializing in political science and international relations. He has made scholarly and research contributions in the fields of governance and state-building in fragile and conflict-affected contexts, public policy, and international relations, in addition to his research interests in political and strategic issues related to Yemen and the Gulf region.
In line with our vision to advance institutional and research work, the upcoming phase will witness the implementation of a comprehensive plan to modernize and expand the center’s programs and activities, strengthen its research and media presence, and attract distinguished academic and research talents and specialized expertise, thereby enhancing the quality of its scientific outputs and reinforcing the center’s role as a trusted source for strategic studies and analysis.
